Hello,

i create a new field "keywords" with the weight "3"
but links sql dosn´t find any keyword in this field and it dosn´t find any varaiation of a word like micros, microsoft softmiciro when i enter "micro"

have you some ideas why ?

yes i change it and reindex the page. i have now three search fields
1) title
2) description
3) keywords (new)

makes it some difference to insert the keywords direct via css importfile or access,.. ?

you made sure the Links.def file was resync'd with the current file.

You then re-indexed the entire database

then tried to search?

That should work. That's how it's done.

yes i "reindex" the link table but always i reindex it all values in the "index weight" field reset to "0"

is this normal ? Can you help me ?!?!

Go to the table editor, change the 'index weight' to something other than zero, and make sure you tick the box on the far left before updating it - that should make the change 'stick' :)

Then try a re-index ...

yes i know but it dosent work :( i change the fields , check the boxes at the beginning of the fields an klick on "Update changes" on the new page the "index weight" fields are correct. now i click auf "reindex" and on the new page all "index weights" reset to "0"

why ?!?!?

Did you set the permissions on your admin/defs directory to 777 so links can rewrite the files?

Did you check the boxes, add the weights, and press 'update' ? (_NOT_ resync?)

i do this. here my steps
1) Table Maintenance->Links
2) Edit Table Definition
3) Change the fields, title, url,description and keywords to weights 1-3 and check the boxes on the beginning
4) Update Changes
5) Eveything on the next page are ok incl the weights
6) resnc and eveyr weight value is "0":(

and the search resulst arent funny :(
Can i mail you my account and you can check it ?

DON'T RESYNC AFTER YOU MAKE THE CHANGES!!

Resync sets everything back to default!

Just 'update' then RE-INDEX, and you'll be good to go.
