.htaccess

.htaccess
Is there a way to run dbman in a directory with a .htaccess-File?

The problem: the web-site contains a general member-area, protected using .htaccess. When running dbman in this area, the main menu appears with no options to log-in or anything else.

I read all topics on this board concerning this problem, but none could help. I also read about the problems between .htaccess and the auth.pl, so I know that dbman takes the server-login as login to dbman.

For me there's another problem: my provider (local provider in Germany) doesn't allow any modifications to the .htaccess. This file is configured via a web-based form. So each time I change logins/passwords the .htaccess will be overwritten. The only workaround could be to modify the dbman.
Are there any solutions? The .htaccess-file needs to be there!

I already thought about running the db.cgi in an 'open' directory and only putting the *.db in the member-area, but dbman said it couldn't locate the default.db.
Because I'm not so common in perl: How do I need to change the path-variables in the default.cfg correctly?

Sorry for the long post, but I really read all topics in the forum concerning .htaccess and passwords and didn't find an answer.

Thanks in advance and excuse my bad english,

As you mentioned, there are other Topics that discuss this...and there are NO solutions at this time.

Ebs:

I think there may have been a solution worked out for what you want to do or at least something very similiar.

Check out these threads if you haven't already:

If these do not provide your answers, then I'm sure it would provide enough information to help JPDeni figure out how to accomplish what you need.

Hope this helps Smile

Well, I read the threads, but I'm not sure I understand what was going on with them. (You'll notice that I didn't contribute to either one.)

I'm also not sure what the question being asked here is.

I need more clarification.

Thanks to all, the hint in the thread
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/scripts/forum/resources/Forum5/HTML/000469.html
worked fine, commenting out a few lines in the auth.pl
