There is no "REPLY" next to where you say it is supposed
to be. I have searched the whole screen over and there is no
"REPLY". Sorry. To answer your question. No, I do not get
the password box when I choose the directory. However
when I choose a file to download in the directory, I
get the password box. Like I said, I am a novice at all
of this including using this forum. Directions would be
helpful.

Ok Found "REPLY" Yea! I', learning.

Try one more thing. Upload/create an index.html file in the password protected direcory. Just something real generic or even a blank file as long as you name it index.html. Try to access the directoy in a browser again and see what happens.

I tried it . The error # is HTTP500- Internal Server
error - Internet Explorer. This Page not Found
Does this mean I am having problems with my internet host? Is there a setting I have not done in Fileman or whazzz-up?

A 500 error is different to file not found (404)

It seems that your server is disagreeing with the .htaccess file which may mean your web host does not have apache setup correctly.

I agree with Paul on this one. Send an e-mail to your host and ask them to take a look at it. Please let us know what they say and what they do to fix it though.
