CGI Errpr when trying to rate a link
Hi,

When trying to rate a link I get the following error:

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Can't open for output counter file. Reason: Permission denied

I won't post the rest as it contains the script location path. That's part of my concern. If a visitor tries to rate a link, that's what they'll see - the path to my files. Surely this leaves me open then to anyone who would like to do anything malicious?? Please tell me if it is OK to post the whole error message if it is needed for you to understand the problem.

Any thoughts on how to sort this problem? I've checked all permissions and they seem to be OK.

Unsure

Make sure the link.count file in your hits directory has its permissions set to 666.

Thomas,

No, it still makes no difference. Any other thoughts?

Make sure that the hits folder/directory is set to 777.

I just started having this problem also. Checked chmods and have hits to 777 and ratings on 666.

You are sure the counter file is CHMODed to 666? It wouldn't give that error unless it really couldn't access the file!
