I don't have telnet is there anyway I can still password protect the admin directory

I can use FTP , but I cant think of how to password it, it's really annoying me

You don't need telnet to password protect it.

Use .htaccess. You can find examples of how to do it by searching the forum or yahoo for .htaccess
