running cgi scripts on laptop
Hey everyone...I've been wondering if it's possible to setup Perl on a standalone computer such as a laptop without having any type of internet connection so I can run Links and other cgi scripts the same as if it were going through a web server. I don't actually want to run the scripts in that location permanently, just be able to make modifications and configure them first so I can just upload it when I'm ready to my host server. I'm sure this is not the most brilliant of questions for you guys, but I would really be interested in learning how to do it if it's possible. Thanks!

Steve

Running cgi scripts offline has been mentioned before. Search the forum for active perl. (You can find a link to the active perl website in the resources section). You then just need some web server software. You cold prob just use pws. I use Xtimsi which is very easy to set up and quick to download as the file is only about 800k.

Good Luck!

Glenn

Search for offline editing...more threads, more information.
