I'm using Links V2 and I've noticed a series of small sized, numbered files in the /admin/data/hits directory that appear to contain the number 1 (sometimes 2), a time stamp, and an IP address (or two). I just wondered ...

what are they? why are they created? and what use do they have?

I'm guessing they are they used to update the hits in the links.db when you rebuild?
