Hello Gossamer-Threads,

I'm kind of scared to ask a question for fear that it has already been asked and I failed to find it during my extensive search of the forums ... but I don't know how to solve this ... so here goes.

I added a new category and several sub-categories under it. The build seems to work fine, as the new categories are listed in it. If I go to add.html, they are present there too. Also, if I go directly to the URLs associated with those categories, they are there. They just aren't showing up on the home page. I emptied my cache and reloaded the page, they still don't show up.

Any ideas why this might be happening or what I can do to solve it. Also, in the CP, categories that I deleted that were taking the place of this new category/subcategories, is still viewable. When I try to delete them again, it says they aren't there.

I did a search on this forum, "category not showing up," read all those threads but none answered my specific question. If there is a thread that has this answer please provide the URL for me so that I can go directly to it.

I'm still looking for the answer to this. I found the following thread that suggests I may have reached my category limit (100+ may cause problems, I have 111).

Well, I tried to add the link to that thread here, but couldn't (Can links be added in the posts? That would help a lot of folk I'm sure).

Anyway, the overwhelming majority of my 100+ categories don't really exist. They've been deleted/renamed, etc., but still show up in the total count inside the CP. Maybe I need to purge those somehow? I'm sure there is a thread in here regarding that, I'll look for it.

Also, in the same thread I was going to share above, the author of that post said they aren't even using the default home page, but rather, have created another and linking to the prospective pages. This would work for me but I hate to have to manually update that page each time. Hmmm ... I'll keep looking for more answers.

I did clear my cache and am on a different pc right now, same thing.

If you go to my Links home page, http://destee.com/network, you will not see a category named "Computers-Internet" but if you go to http://destee.com/network/Computers-Internet you'll find it there. I just noticed that none of the sub-categories are on that Computers-Internet page either, and there are several of them. For example, http://destee.com/...rs-Internet/Hardware, http://destee.com/...rs-Internet/Software, etc.

Still think it's a cache issue?

I don't know if this will help, but I originally had two categories, http://destee.com/network/Computers and http://destee.com/network/Internet. I created the new category http://destee.com/.../Computers-Internet/ to combine them, deleted the first 2 categories, moved the links to the new category/sub-categories, did the build and all seemed to go okay. Links did remove the first 2 categories from the home page but didn't add the new one. It seems like it didn't actually move the individual links to the new category, because if you click on either of the first 2 links above, you'll find those categories and links still in them. Hmmm ... it's as though my build isn't completely building though it completes w/no errors. For the record, I did the build a few times, both build and build staggered w/no problems but no different results. I've since added new links to the other categories and everything else seems to be working fine.

Am I talking too much? Okay, I'll stop now. : )

Does no (additional) response mean that you all can see the "Computers-Internet" cagetory on my home page and I am in fact experiencing a caching issue?

I've resolved this issue. I created a new category, "Computers--Internet," and the subcategories within it ... and it is showing up on the home page as it should. I must have done something to make the "Computers-Internet" category be ignored, just don't know what.
