Ok I've been looking around the forum and I can't really seem to find what I need, there is soemthing about this but it has to do with programming actual CGI so I don't really understand.

I need to reset hits safely (but keep votes) on all links in the database, is this possible with links 2?

You can try using the reset.cgi script that comes with the Review script written by widgetz, which is linked in the Resource Center.

This script resets the Rating field, but you can hack the script to reset the Vote field.

widgetz posted in the SQL forum that he is moving to a dedicated server and most of his site is down. You might be able to connect to it and find something here, but no promises:

Uh...jcrow...we are NOT looking for other Review scripts, but for the reset.cgi script that widgetz wrote to reset Ratings that can be applied to reset the Votes field.

Please read the post and replies more carefully.

but i don't want to reset votes.....just hits, i want to keep the votes and rating....

You can use that script to reset hits as well. Read the replies in that Thread.

And the name of the Thread is Reseting Hits.
