Multiple Links Using Same Database

Multiple Links Using Same Database
I want to mirror my links site on another domain with the same database of links... has anyone done this before?

Common files will be all that's in the data and hits directories - plus the links dbase and the categories db. Anything else?

Thanks, y'all!

Do you own the server, or is it dedicated? If you were on a dedicated server, and had access to root files (i.e other domains also), then it would be possible. Otherwise, you may just as well copy over the database files to the other domain Wink

Yes - it's all on the same server/root. The new domains are going to be directories called newdomainwhatever.com... thnx!

Whoa guys! No need for transferring files and confusing my poor brain with perl.lib routines... I just need to know what files in the links.cfg should be the same for both databases. I'm guessing basically everything but the templates...

Thanks for you continued help!

I think you'll find that calling modules is case sensitive..

Hi,

Yes that's correct - you can just keep everything the same.

Another issue - does the flock (file lock?) feature work globally on the server - that is, if a webmaster is adding a link in one instance of Links and another is adding one a split second after in another instance of links with the same database - is this coolio? (intelligible?)

Re: Multiple Links Using Same Database In reply to
flock is o/s dependant. When admin adds a link from the control panel, it goes directly into links.db. (Chances are there is no one else in the admin area but you...) When a user adds a link, it goes into validate.db. Regardless, there is always potential for data loss and corruption.

Happy coding,
