Altavista.cgi script problem
I download the alatvista.cgi script. Set it up to match my perl location etc.

However I get the message

Premature end of script headers:

Is this a problem with the script?

DS,

Could you send me a copy of your altavista.cgi file.

I checked my perl location and that is fine.

I am trying to narrow the problem to solve this problem.

Hi,

Well I changed the code to match my Perl Location, uploaded it to my CGI-Bin in ASCII format, chmoded the file to 755 and then tried to run it.

This is when I get the error message. All I do is change the first line to match my Perl Location.

I have not had any other problem with scripts to this Perl Location.

I get that error everytime I have a script with /usr/local/bin/perl at the top. I change it to /usr/bin/perl and evreything works.

I have it set to #!/usr/bin/perl which has always been the correct location before for other scripts

Run the script in telnet. It will usually give you a good idea of the error.

View Telnet I get the following message. What does this tell you, because I am not quite sure.

Can't locate LWP/Simple.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/i386-linux/5.0
0404 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl
.) at altavista.cgi line 5.

Hey guys, is it legal to use this script on our sites or does one need permission from alatavista?

Martin,

Do you have LWP installed properly? Check if all protocols are defined properly. Check and see if you can use the nph-verify.cgi to verify web addresses in Link 2.0 admin section in either the quick check or detailed. You may find your answer there. You may need to contact you hosting company. I made sure that whoever installed LWP on my server was installed properly.

Hope this helps,
elms
