I'm looking for a template for my links 2 database. The templates listed in the support section are all quite old (posted 99/2000).

Anyone got any new templates that they'd like to share? (And maybe get added to the support section.)

Forgot to add, why and how do you edit the nph-build and site_html_templates files?

those are the "program" files. use a text editor to modify. See the Resouces section for MODS. Links 2 out of the box is pretty generic and the MODS add functionality/improvements. Some of the HTML is in these two files.

Remember to keep backups of the last valid copies, just in case.

You really have to want to dig into the HTML to make this work. And the more you know about "programming" in general, the better off you will be - you need at least some understaning of PERL.

Getting someone else to do it for you will be tough - they won't do it for free and you probably won't be able to pay them the bucks needed to get the stuff done - a "good" site could take hundreds of hours to do.

I opened up the files and looked at them, but I just don't know what I have to edit in the files. I am just replacing the templates, why do I have to edit those files?

hmmmm....if you don't know what to do after you've opened the hood, I guess it won't do you much good to kick the tires.

so, put 'em in the folder and try 'em out. Only reason to look under the hood is to fix something that is broke or make something look prettier.

Links 2 will run right out of the box. You don't have to do anything after the install. Just validate the links as they come in. If you replace the template files, that may work without your ever having to open an editor.
