New FrameIt 5.11, how to work with Links 2.0?
Anyone using FRAMEIT 5.11 with Links 2.0? I read past forums scripts that didn't seem complete about integrating FrameIt. The new version allows for many options and comes with a wizard too, http://www.verysimple.com

Where would I make the changes in Links 2.0 to use FrameIt? It's a nice program.

I prefer to use the frames modification in the jump.cgi file, which is easier to incorporate with LINKS rather than Frameit.

Hi Eliot,

Thank you very much for your reply. I always have found your Links help very useful.

In regard to the frames modification for jump.cgi, I've done some forum searching and found a plethora of things and nothing seemingly on the bullseye.

Do you know of the URL to this frames modification for jump.cgi?

Thank you.

OK, Mark and I have been in discussion.

I've made the mod available at

http://207.5.93.160/links/mod-jumpcgi.txt

NOT the address shown above!

Mark,

If you can't find it, let me know - I've made a similar change to jump.cgi (which you can see at http://www.nlpresources.com/links/ ).

I'm looking to add more usefulness to it (more than just a frameset and link back to my site), and when I've done so I'll post it as a new mod. But if you need the code in the meantime, just let me know.

instructions there..

andrew.. i see ASP.. i also see my review.cgi in asp.. interesting..

i once was learning asp and trashed it to learn PHP.. is it that flexible? can it be used like perl.. to write to files.. (unlike php)

mark.. the difference between mine and andrew's is that with mine you can personalize the top frame.. you can even put the rating form in it.. (like on Eliot's site..) You can put the link's title.. and everything.. and it uses a dynamic template..

widgetz,

You can use Perl as the scripting language for ASP pages.

ELIOT!

REALLY?!?! Smile

well.. another reason i didn't like asp (after my father bought 3 $50 books for me.. that i never even opened).. was cause it used Windows NT IIS servers..

and boy.. i don't like IIS servers! Smile

Eliot/Widgetz,

I've modded (quite heavily) review.cgi and nlp-build so that it hard-codes the review details into the detailed page builds, rather than calling it dynamically every time someone tries to see the reviews (although there is only one so far!!).

Then just changed the page suffix to ASP, simply to include the header/footer on all pages.

The review entering is still done through the review.cgi.

I'm really only just learning Perl after a while tinkering with Links and other programs, so I've not used Perl in ASP (I'm much more fluent in VBScript). Perlscript (Perl for IIS) is a sub-set of Perl, I believe (Eliot, correct me if I'm wrong).

Regards,
Andy

Andrew,

You are wrong. ASP pages can use standard Perl as a scripting language.

Widgetz,

ASP pages can run on UNIX servers running various web server software packages, including Apache. There is software available via www.chilisoft.com that allows ASP pages to run on NON-Windows servers.
