Different Templates
Hi:

I was wondering if I can have "two different set of templates" in Links. What I am after is a directory with "Full HTML" and "TEXT ONLY" mode from one links database.

* http://server/text/index.html - homepage for text only directory
* http://server/graphic/index.html - homepage for graphic directory.

Right now I use a browser detection script to send folks into different directories.

I have seen in the forum folks have managed to have different templates for different category..will this solution be simillar?

Any help would be very helpfull!

Hmm.. One way to do this would be to have two config files and two nph-build.cgi. Copy links.cfg to links_text.cfg and nph-build.cgi to nph-build-text.cgi. Then change the path and url of the directories to build in links_text.cfg. Also change the path to the templates (say templates_text). The rest should stay the same.

Finally modify nph-build-text.cgi to look at the other config file.

Hope this helps and love to see it if you get it working,

Alex

Yes, Alex, this is very much possible. See the following pages which are all generated from a single links setup:

http://www.Ten-Tenths.com/links/Sport/Formula_1/
http://www.Ten-Tenths.com/...ula_1/f1rumours.html
http://www.Ten-Tenths.com/...ula_1/othersite.html

The first version is my site. Style 2 is loaded into frames at www.f1rumors.net and the final version loaded into frames at www.chequered-flag.co.uk

The category links intentionally point to the pages on my site although i'm sure it could easily be modified to point to a second style of pages on your own site if this was how you wished to use it.

I have found that providing links to these two external sites has been an amazing way of, not only building traffic, but alliances with other complimentary sites too.

Hope this helps.

Alex, I was wondering if I could use this method to offer different languages in menu options.

My link database permits english and dutch listings but would like to offer the menu options in both english and dutch.

I use Links2.0 and templates.

Could this be my solution?
