exist a mod for dead links ?
where can a user tell me which link is dead.
sorry but i can't look at about 12.000 postings :-)

I have written a sendmail script that allows users to select the Error message they receive when trying to access a bad link. Then the message is sent to the Site Administrator. The message includes the
following:

1) Link ID
2) URl
3) Error Message
4) Environmental Variables (for tracking SPAM)

To see this in action, go to:

www.anthrotech.com/resources/Archaeology/

You will see "Report Dead Link" next to each link.

Test it out.

Yes...Verify Links does that! BUT, for those people who do not have LWP or have LWP restrictions, having this type of user interaction is useful!

I really like the look of your site...and that dead link report is great.

I find the feature built in to links which reports dead url to be too difficult to use...many times I get bad links which are actually good but I guess it's due to server timeouts...

Thanks. The problem with the verify function is that you first have to have LWP installed and even if you do have it installed, many servers set-up a timeout buffer, which is not conducive to checking a large number of links. I find that running the verify via Cron doesn't help either. It times out around 1,000 links.

So, having some sort of alternative check system is nice.
