client side access and sent mail

client side access and sent mail
HEllo,

Folks who pulled their mail down with client side software used to receive messages they sent through the web interface in their client side software inbox. This behavior stopped when i upgraded the system to the most recent gmail version. Now folks want that behavior back... of course. Was that a fluke before? Or is something not working now?

Thanks,

bob

Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Are you talking about the POP server plugin?

THanks for the reply.

We have the POP plug in installed.

People who pull their messages off our server using outlook express used to recieve mail they sent via the web interface in their outlook express inbox. Web side sent items were pulled down into the client side inbox. Ideally they would be pulled into the client side sent items folder of course but that was not the case. Now the sent items are not coming down at all.

The latest version of the POP server plugin changed this. The previous versions were actually incorrectly showing ALL messages that the user had in their account (sent, trash, drafts, etc). The latest version only shows messages which are in their inbox. If you wish to revert to the old behaviour, just install the older version of the plugin.

Hi Adrian

Can you tell me if the pop server plugin includes the custom footers etc that can be added to your gmail install by the admin?

ie. are the footers etc added to the downloaded mail?

The footers are only added to outgoing mail (ie. mail they send). The POP server plugin only gives the user the ability to download mail from their inbox to their mail client. What they download is the same as what they would see in Gossamer Mail.

That makes sense.

Is there any way "to" add content to those email?

ie. add a footer (aka advertisement) to make up for the fact that they're not visiting the web site any more.
