questions about .def files

questions about .def files
I have been making a lot of changes to the category and links tables in particular and was wondering if the .def files are automatically when I make a change to the tables via the admin program? It seems like they are when I took a look at them, but I just wanted to make sure. Also, the Resync button on the Table Maintenance area, does that make new def files based upon the tables, or new tables based upon the def files? Finally, has anyone run across specific situations where things get out of wack for any reason that I should be aware of?

Any changes you make in the Admin program are made to the .def file. If you make any changes to the tables outside of the admin, then you need to re-sync the def files your self.

When the def file is resync'd the values are set to default values. That means weights, any special changes to fields, etc, are lost.

Hi,

there is one problem with the def files. The entry made by setup.cgi of the download directorys get blanked out ( set to '') when you change something in your table or use the resync function.
