Is it possible to echo out ?query so that I can say in search.cgi page something down the lines of

Your search for $query resulted in 1 matching link and 1 matching category.

I also want echo it out so that I can pass over the variable to other pages and links to people like Amazon.

Sure! All CGI input is available as a tag, so you would do:

Your search for <b><%query%></b> resulted in ...
