(REPOST GOT NO REPLIES)

I have way too many subcategories (I imported dmoz several months ago). Is it possible to delete the actual sub-categories and have the links moved to the main category without having to manually insert 200k links?

Example Of Existing:
Automoblies>Foreign>European>German>New>Blue

Example of my Wish:
Automoblies>Foreigh>

I want to cut down the clicks it takes my surfers to find things.

Any thoughts? Idea?

I don't think that there is a direct way, but what you could do is an sql query through sql monitor.

If you do an update set query and change the catid and all the associated category fields from the one you don't want to the one you want it should be really quick for mass moves.

Other than that you could just do a related category, or delete the target category, do a rename and then a move

Anyone care to show the commands to do this?

I also have hundreds of links from a Dmoz import to move into other categories. This would take weeks to do by hand!
