Links with a map. Anyone interested?
We're planning to develop a map plugin for links.

We would like to know if this type of plugin would raise some interest.

It enables automatic geographic location of any item in the database.

You can see an example with links 2.0 at

Yes, this is very timely. I'm just now integrating a new install of Links SQL into my web site.

A map would enable nonprofit organizations to quickly locate discussion forums that we're developing, and that are based in part on geography; and to enable us to help them locate resouces.

I'd be happy to be a test site for such a project.

It might be helpful if you provided some more information.

What is the expected price?

What geographic areas have maps available?

Are there various scales of maps?

How much space does a typical installation require?

Thanks,

Okay, some more infos;

Expected price of the plugin:
No Idea. It might as well be a rewrite of links sql.

Maps available actually:
All World countries in a general scale (major cities, roads, etc..)

Our maps come with a set of dynamic layers driven by database.
You can show/hide layers from different categories (hotels, restaurants)
as well as perform geographic searches with one or more criterias.

Up to now we've been selling custom maps.
This is a totally different service so we have to think about our prices/modus operandi. Suggestions welcome.

A map weighs about 50k average, from 15 to 80k maximum.

Dynamic layers weighs about 5-15k

Have a look at demo maps at
