marketing database
We want to make a database of potential advertisers and their emails.

1. Is there anyway to stop the email that is sent to these new validated links without shutting it off complelety for regular members who ad links? One solution I thought of was to shut of the email for modified links and then add the email after the link has been validated (modify the link) Are there any other solutions someone knows of?

2. How do I created an editor (administrator)? And is there a way to give rights to administrators so that their new links are accepted immediately without validation (even thought validation is turned on for other users)

Thanks
Thank you,

Hi,

It sounds like you wish to amalgamate your new "potential advertiser" database into your existing GLinks database.

In that case, it would require quite a bit of custom code to achieve different behaviour for one type of user/link versus another. Unfortunately, I will have to ask that you rephrase Point #1 in an effort to clarify what it is that you need exactly.

Creating an Editor is done within the "Browse" section of the admin panel and is covered in the GLinks Manual. If you select a category, you'll see the option to create an Editor on the right panel. An Editor is not an Administrator however. Editors can add links through their own interface, without going through admin validation.

1. When an admin ads a link with the email address of the webmaster of that site link no email is sent to the webmaster, correct? Even if the following email options are on? Correct?

Should Gossamer Links notify a user that their link addition/modification has been validated? email_add Yes No email_mod Yes No
2. Editors can add links through their own interface, without going through admin validation. I assume that admins surely do not need admin validation. Correct?

If the addition to the database is done from within the admin panel, then no email is sent.

If the link was added through the user-side and then validated, an email would be sent, not otherwise.

I tried to point out that Editors are not the same as Administrators in the previous post. An Administrator is defined as someone who has access to the full functionality of the admin panel, i.e. admin.cgi.
