I am begining to see the emense power of using if statements in my templates to have different things going on in different categories. But I am concerned that I could be creating a monster.

How much strain is put on a server when building with many if statements? (well, not really that many, maybe a few per template) .

I am on a shared server and am building html pages.

If making static pages, you shouldn't notice much of a difference at all in build time/CPU usage...

You can use as many tags as you want if you are building...only the build time will be affected (and the final page size if your tags output html)
