this is what i want to do with dbman.

the admin will use dbman and its functions as it would normally appear.

the user however will only have view options though a logon function is required. after logging on the user will go to a page which is broken down into 3 frames:
the top frame contains the search function for dbman (and a redirect function).
the left frame contains some other links.
the main (target) frame is where the results of the dbman search will be presented. this will also be where the results of the other links will be presented.

am i asking too much here, bearing in mind that i will be bypassing some of the functional levels of dbman and going directly to the view as submit option. incidentally it will be a straightforward keyword search system.

it would be great if someone could help me with this but if not i am prepared to battle on by myself, just so long as i know that it is possible.

i suspect that it is mostly controlled from the html.pl file.

It's probably possible. I know nothing about frames, though. (If at all possible, I avoid websites with frames, but that's just my own preference.) Maybe someone with experience using frames will be able to help you.
