Every once in a while, portions or all of the records on the default.db and default.pass files are being deleted. Any one have a similar problem and what suggestions would you have to eliminate this problem?

Yep...How large are both of the files?
If they exceed 1 MG, then that is a natural process that happens on most servers. For example, one of my clients had a database that was 1.3 MGs, and when he tried to add a new record of modify a record, the database would be deleted. Then he had to restore from backups.
So, if your database is larger than 1 MG, guess what...time to upgrade to DBMAN SQL!

The files are about 68,000 k.

Well...that does not make much sense.
Have you installed any Mods? If so, then please post ALL the Mods you've installed and which are the most recent.
