Ext.text MOD - text area formatting
Hi,

Is it possible to set a limit for the number of characters, say 160, that is allowed in the text area (in the Ext.Text Mod). I can't get the MAXLENGHT to work at all... Does MAXLENGHT really work with text areas?

I thought it did work, but I guess it doesn't.

It really would be better to have a field that would have no more than 160 characters in the database itself, rather than in external text. The external text mod is most appropriate for text of 1K or more.

Yep, it should be "MAXLENGTH". Although unfortunately it doesn't affect TEXTAREA fields.

I use maxlength for textarea field in several databases, and it does indeed limit the number of characters in that field.

I believe a solution was also found for the external text file mod to limit the number of characters. It may be referenced in the FAQ noted below under "Files / Records" ?

What browser are you using?

Because it certainly won't work for me under IE4, IE5 or NS4...
