And 1 MB is just an estimation. It depends on:
1. Speed of the server.
2. Load of the server.
3. Number of users hitting the database at the same time.
You should feel comfortable getting reasonable performance up to 1 MB. You will notice things slow down as you reach your limit (or your ISP will turn off the script as it uses too many resources).
