"Admin" Screen

"Admin" Screen
In the "admin" screen when you click "inquire" it shows you the password in its encrypted form. Is it possible for you to see it in its normal form when you click "inquire" (not encrypted)?

I've had a look at all the password mods at http://webmagic.hypermart.net/dbman/ but none of them seem to allow this.

Is it possible?

Unfortuantely there is no way to de-crypt the DBMan passwords. So I'm afraid the answer is "No".

Thanks for the fast response. Is there some other option that would allow me to display it?

Not really...

If you're after a way to give users who have forgotten their passwords a chance to change them, you might concider the "secure password lookup" mod.

But apart from not encrypting the passwords in the first place (which I highly discourage) I'm afraid you're stuck.

The reason I was wanting this is so that if someone forgets their password they can email the "admin" person and they can find out what their password is.

You see with the password mod it requires that you have an email address. While not everyone in my database has an email address. What are my options?

Well there are a mountain of free email services out there... You might even be able to implement ICQ in a tricky sort of way (I think every ICQ user gets an ICQ_NUMBER@icq.com address or something...)

Or, I suppose you could implement a "change password online" option... though you'd have to come with a way to prevent just anyone changing someone else's password.

Alternatively the admin could just reassign them a new password then let them know what it is.

Thanks a lot for your prompt responses AstroBoy.

I suppose I'll just have to use one of the password mods or make it so that the admin person assigns the user a new password.
