Hope this helps!

Info on this topic, for example at:

Forumhosts: Choosing Web Conferencing Software
http://www.forumhosts.com/fortip.htm

Forumhosts: Web Conferencing Software Reviews
http://www.forumhosts.com/reviews.htm

The CGI Resource Index: Programs and Scripts: Perl: Bulletin Board Message Systems
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/...oard_Message_Systems

The CGI Resource Index: Programs and Scripts: Remotely Hosted: Bulletin Board Message Systems
http://cgi.resourceindex.com/...oard_Message_Systems

I would suggest the Discus message board program, at:

DiscusWare
http://www.discusware.com

Juan,

The freeware version of Discus is very limited. And the professional version costs $99.00, which is not free.

I think the free version of UBB is limited, but this does not happen with Discus.
You can do almost anything with the free Discus, for normal message boards.

The Discus Pro version ($99.00) has extra features useful for big boards, in
my opinion.

(I use Discus, naturally; a no-frames customization). Wink

I agree...the free version of Discus is quite powerful and they have one of the slickest
server check/installation scripts I've ever seen...Nice work by those University guys.

UBB offers much more than Discus Pro...and is easier to customize!

Of course, this is a matter of opinion, and while ones prefer Discus,
many others choose UBB, etc. Anyway, we can customize as well
Discus with templates, skins, the options manager, some files, etc.

I agree that usually people regard UBB as not free, since the UBB's
freeware version ( http://ultimatebb.com/home/freebie.shtml )
is so limited that it's only a demo to test the product before purchasing
the real UBB ( http://ultimatebb.com/home/howtopay.shtml ),
which it's a very popular board, it's true.
