Newbie warning!!!

In response to a discussion on ssi for links, I wrote what I thought should work for an ssi script to print the last few links into an html page. but when I call it from an shtml file, where the code prints out , it is blank. Is there a specific way I need to return my output or am I just dense?

BTW the script works file locally.

What does the ssi tag you are using look like and what does the program you calling it from look like?
