How to remove  in the SQL database
Hi after a systems crash i had to reinstall a 75 Meg sql data file form backup, a years work and happy to have the back up.
However now everywhere in the database before the £ sign as i am in the UK i have

£ I just want £

How do i get rid of the is  character in all the mails and showing before all the £ signs?

Any help would be appreciated.

When you see that, it usually means that your data is in UTF-8, but you're viewing the data in ISO-8859-1. If you change your page's character set to UTF-8, it should display correctly.

Hi I changed the character set to

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

from
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />


but the  still shows

I see the code is &#194; for the  character

any ideas what else i can try

1. Check what your browser encoding is set to... you might nee to change this to view the page correctly.

2. Check what charset the server database is. If the £ has been saved wrongly at this level then it doesn't matter what charset you use in your HTML.
