I don't think Apple users would be happy with the cow.

The only thing there is that Gateway has as much if not more debt than Apple with less in sales. They also have a huge overhead with all their retail outlets "Gateway Country".

heehehe...and of course, how would that look if they bought a company that tried to compete with them?

Then how about the HP acquisition of Compaq? They were competitors.

Maybe, Dell, since market, stocks and what not seem very similar. It's fun to see how Apple and Dell move similarly in the market place.

There were rumors that Apple would buy out SGI ... but hehe, apple but up some other hardware and application companies instead. Probably better just to internalize less famous companies than a big power house.

hehe, Apple buyouts seem to be pretty peaceful and if not accepted by the employees involved. I haven't heard a bad story yet. Not, saying there aren't any just that I've heard one.
