Hmm, when I bought my DVD writer I at least expected to be able to burn DVD's.

A movie in DIVX format is around 600-700MB - when I use my DVD burning software to burn it to a 4.7GB DVD then it ends up at about 5GB and won't fit on the friggin DVD.

Is there anyway to get it to fit on by re-encoding it but without losing quality?...I *can* get it to fit on by choosing a lower quality but the movie then ends up being about 2.5GB and really poor quality.

Not that I know of. All DVDs span two discs with me.

? In Australia, 99% of DVD's fit on one disk. Donno what they use where you are Wil.

My digital camera lets me record an mpeg ...I just press record and walk around with the camera and it creates a cool little video.

Yeah, it lets you record like 15 seconds clips .. hardly a full DVD now is it?
