different form for editing/searching
I think this one is something obvious but I need some help how to do it:
I want my users to do a search of only some fields but as the admin I want to add to all the fields in the database.
Changing the html_record_form won't do it !
Any idea is higly appriciated

Thilo,

Your problem isn't hard to fix -- you can go to JPDeni's Dbman Mods page and get exactly the thing you are looking for (if I understand you right!).

Go to www.jpdeni.com/dbman/mods.html and look for the "autogenerate" enhancements. There are codes there to allow fields that only the Admin can see or edit.

There is also another approach to this here on this forum:

Hope this helps!

Actually, the best way to have separate forms for searching and editing is as I explained in http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...m12/HTML/001193.html .

thanks to both of you - Glen for his two suggestions (where the second one show me the way how to do it) an JPDeni for the great work she is doing in this Forum - I actually did it almost Smile) excactly as she explained it in her reply to BrianL.(her solution being a lot more sophisticated)
I think this will help a lot of people.
