How many categories/subcategories do you guys have in your live running samples of LinksSQL?

I just want to know how many cats/subcats the average install has, I'm sure there are extremes on both ends of the scale (which I don't mind hearing)...just trying to get an idea that's all!

100 cats/subcats, 1000, 10 000??

I have about 30 top level cats and close to 2000 subcats with 60,000 links.
Biggest problem with so many subcats is from the user side to select which of them to place there link in.
So I use a javascript to filter the list of sub categories on the add form, seems to work OK for me.

One of my clients sites, which uses static pages, has 1.4million links, and 400,000+ categories. This is running under mod_perl, with a dedicated server (from Gossamer). Its pretty damn quick, even with 10-20,000 page views a day (average of 1 hit every 5 seconds).

I've had a lot larger sites running too (some with 4million links), but these kind of sites require a pretty good server, with INTERNAL INDEXING turned on for searches (otherwise its pretty slow), and mod_perl. I think they were running a 2Ghz/1Gb RAM/dual processor.
