How many people use LinksSQL's newsletter? How do you like it?

I must confess I've been looking to install a "standalone" PHP newsletter script for two reasons:

First, I already have over 50,000 URLs in the LinksSQL database and I feel like it may be too much to use the newsletter as well. (Head for the hills, the non programmer in me surfaces again!)

Second, I have looked everywhere I can think of to edit the text in "subscribe.cgi" and have had no luck.

Please share your shiny brain cells with me.

Why would it be too much? 50,000 links is nothing compared to the number Links SQL could handle. Are you on a dedicated server, or shared? Also, using a PHP mailing script wouldn't make any difference at all....at the end of the day, the server still has to process the data, and send out the emails ;)


What text are you refering to? The templates, or text sent out when someone subscribes, etc?

Why oh why do I still doubt the powers of LinksSQL? I'm on a dedicated server that still has lots of space.

I'm looking for where to modify " Keep informed of new additions to SHWING: Community Life & Arts Directory, by subscribing to our low-volume newsletter that will deliver new listings straight to your inbox!"

Now that you mention it, I'd like to be able to modify text that gets sent out when someone subscribes as well.

Anyone else notice this problem with the subscribe.cgi/newsletter???

Whenever you enter any garbage data into the e-mail field you get the error message "You are already subscribed to this mailing list".

Thought it may have been a problem on my side until I noticed the same thing on everyone elses LinkSQL site.

Is there some kind of fix for this???

when I type in legit emails, I get this error, and no they aren't already signed up.
