Cannot turn off substring search
Hi,

I turned off substring search in my admin setup, but search still return substring such as "car" will also return "card".

Thank you for any clues.

Are you running under mod_perl? If so, you probably need to restart the web server.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for your reply. I am not sure if I am running mod_perl since my site is on a virtual server.

If you go to the admin panel and click Setup > Environment, under the "System Information" section you will see a line that reads:

Persistant Env: mod_perl (1) SpeedyCGI (0)

If the value next to "mod_perl" is 1, it is running under mod_perl. If the value is 0, it is NOT running under mod_perl.

Hi Sean,

I checked my server environment, there is no mod_perl. In this case, what could be wrong?

What type of indexing are you using? Go to Database > Links and check the indexing type...

Hi,

If you are using NONINDEXED indexing (i.e. no indexing), then substring is always on. The manual in the download area shows pros and cons of each different indexing scheme.

Cheers,

Alex
