Recently one of my users informed me that their link had been deleted from Links. Nobody had removed it, so I checked, but it was indeed gone. Another link appeared twice instead. After rebuilding all the pages a couple of times, the link is now back, but it's no longer in alphabetical order.

Has anyone experinced problems such as this? What's going on!?

Hi,

The problem with some webhosting companies is that they delete data once you have exceeded your assigned disk quota.

It happened to me when I hosted my site with Verio. I have since changed webhosting company so at least now I would receive a warning before they start deleting files.

Hope that you had a backup.
