I implemented user validation as a way to help combat "search engine spammers".

It has been working great, but not because it is working, because it is "not" working. =P

It has been brought to my attention that for some reason the validation process is not working. I tested it out myself and the validation codes just don't work! When you go to the page to validate a new account:

http://www.kaazoo.com/cgi-bin/linkssql2/user.cgi?validate=1

and enter a "valid" validation code:

9862261736671157

I just get back an error saying "invalid validation code". Does anyone have an inkling as to what could be causing this problem? I don't want to get rid of user validation because I was getting spammed by some idiot with 100 porn sites a day using a different IP (fake I think) every few minutes. =P

Is it possible that maybe the wrong permissions are on the data file or folder that holds the validation info? If so, where can I find it to troubleshoot?

Did you get it working? I just ran through the process ok and created an account 'alex'.

Only problem was you need to add a language variable 'USER_VALEMAILSUB' which is the subject line of the validation email: 'Your validation code' or something similiar.

I "think" the problem has been fixed - not sure what was causing it though, maybe I was just really tired when I made the post, hehe.

Thank you for pointing out the missing variable. Do you have a complete list of "all" the variables that have been added since 2.0 so I can make sure that they are working properly?
