Is it possible that when a search engine slurps my site that it could possibly trigger the dead link feature?

Here is what is happening. Every coulpe of days or so I am showing about 30 dead links have been reported. Not just 1 or 2 at a time but approx. 25-30. I double check the links and they are ok.

Could it be a slurp?
Or a prankster?

Well I just checked the ip address stored in mysqlman. It is the same ip address for all 25 bad link entries. I went to whois to check host for the ip address and it was unavailable. Does anyone have any thoughts at all on this?

I don't think a spider would do it. Most likely a prankster.

You may want to consider adding anti-prankster code to the plugin to stop abuse.
