Moving SQL from ISP to My Computer

Moving SQL from ISP to My Computer
Hi:

I am not 100% sure that this question is appropraite to this board, but since it does involve LinksSQL and running it, I thought I would risk posting this here.

My ISP has given me the option of moving my site from their servers to a computer that I bring in and hook into their system. What I would like to know is whether this is a good idea? Also, what am I looking at software-wise (that is, do I have to by MySQL now, and various other software to make the move work)?

Finally, if I do buy a dedicated machine for this, what would I want to look for in a machine to maximize the Links SQL speed (CPU speed, hard disk size, memory... you know!)

Again, I apologize if this is off topic!

Dave

Co-locating servers is a good option if you are willing to take the time to administrate the server. Specifications for dedicated servers have been posted a number of times both in this forum and the Links SQL Questions Forum..>Search for dedicated server.

Thanks! I guess I was handycapped by not knowing the exact term "dedicated server". I will give that a shot- thank you!
