The cgi is showing as plain text because your webserver doesn't associate cgi scripts with perl and so it just thinks it is a normal text file.

You need to get your host to add this into their webserver...you could trying putting a .htaccess file in your cgi directory with the following inside:

Options +ExecCGI

...if that doesn't work you will need to contact your host.
