And so do virus programs. Norton Internet Security (which I use) blocks some pop-ups as well as graphics or ads.. depending on your settings.

So I will back your statement up... I would advise avoiding pop-ups wherever possible. Personally, I think it is more of an irratation, and associated with cheap, illegal or pornographic sites.

There are always other ways.
