You have to wait until the plugin will be finished.
It will have much more features.
Numbering can be only solved by digging deep into the base code, replacing original code parts. Therefore I don't plan to release numbering as separate plugin.
The Extended Links plugin will be released as a complete link related feature collection with optional usage of features.
I planned to release it as shareware, but it seems much work is needed to finish, so I may release as commercial (about $60 price or less). Not decided yet.
Release is planned at middle of this summer... Depends on my free time...
