Support WAP/WML?

Support WAP/WML?
Alex,

Do the new version support WAP/WML? Make Links SQL as a WAP Directory. I try to change my site into WAP enabled by changing the template. But it's not working. Will this be an option for the NG of Links SQL?

It should just be a matter of changing the templates. I don't think anything else is required?

Cheers,

And changing the content-headers in the the scripts which interfaces with the users (search, add etc), and adding some MIME-types on the webserver. It`s fairly simple to make the current LinksSQL work with WAP.

Before this post, I thought of that too.. I've tried to change the template and found that there is a lot of error coming out. Maybe the scripts also generate some HTML code. Anyone interested in helping me creating a WAP/WML Template for Links SQL?

Leslie

I forgot those... as it is 6 months since I made a set of wap templates. I had to make a few changes to the nph-build.cgi script, a few <li> items and more. I don`t remember if I had to change other scripts as well.

Content-Type headers In reply to
Hi

I would be very handy for all the GT scripts if the Content-Type headers could be set to different values for different templates -- for valid XHTML you need UTF-8 in the header and although you can have a content-type in the pages the way it's done for XHTML means that it shows up in older browsers such as NN3...

CGI.pm and Apache now set the chr set in the headers following a security alert from CERT.

Bringing up this old thread to top. There was no real solution given, and WAP support is getting more & more important nowadays.

Alex, I think WAP support would be not just changing the template set, but would also need changing the header type. If users would also want to support both html & wap templates, header content type should be defined for each template set, not generally in core LinksSQL code...

Could be possible to modify Links and add feature officially to be able to assign a header content type to each template independently?

Hi,

Yogi's pagebuild plugin does this pretty well. We'll look at how we can implement this into the core though.

Glad, that Yogi's Pagebuilder is so fine & can support wap pages.
However as far as I know, it's only for pages built outside the categories.

But for example to have different content header for each category or each template, should be likely a core change. It may be possible to solve through plugin, but likely would be better to support it in core code. I try to avoid deep core code replaces using plugin (when possible), and this would mean deep changes I think.

Anyway, if you don't plan to implement it, let me know, because then I will implement this feature into one of my plugins.
But if it would be implemented into LSQL within next 12 months, then I better wait for the LSQL implementation.

Best regards,
