I have a feeling that I have posted this before but I can't find it so I'll post it again.
My preferred whois site is domiantools. If you want to change the default whois site from arin.net to another site here's how to do it.
Log in to Gossamer Community.
Go to Templates > User Templates and select the Show Admin Templates check box then click Change.
In Available Templates scroll down to admin_ipinvestigate.html (you can also do the same for admin_iptools.html).
Change:
<a href="http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl?queryinput=<%ip%>" target=_blank>whois</a>
to:
<a href="http://whois.doamintools.com/<%ip%>" target=_blank>whois</a>
Done!
