In line 43 of that package (in the install function), it says

return 1;

but there's still things to be done afterwards? Bug?

Ah, that explains a lot. Copy and paste error. =) I've fixed that up. If you are using Gossamer Forum, you should make this fix, and then uninstall and install the gossamer forum application to make sure the columns get setup properly.
