Is this an OS problem?

When I upload from a Windows machine the file looks fairly OK with all line breaks in the right place, but when I upload from a MacOS machine there are no line breaks at all in the uploaded file.

In both cases it seems that the TAB character is converted to 3 space characters. To really check the uploaded I file would need to read the file as a hex-file (not ASCII converted). Is there a Unix command for that? I know you can use more -z to display some of the non-graphic characters, but is there any command for displaying the hex values for all characters (like Norton Commander)?
