Not list symbolic links - and others in mulituser
Hi,

thanks to GT and TheStone for the new fileman. A suggestion - now that the new fileman is so different from the old tool - woouldn't it make sense to make a separate Fileman 2 forum?

My question relates to one I had some time back for the beta of fileman 2 -

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...orum.cgi?post=162052

As I now have the multiuser version installed I could want to do the same with that one and not list certain files. But I don't seem to find the same files... How would I proceed to have it not list files starting with . ?

Also - I have a couple of symbolic links on my web (eg the CGI-Bin) the. My idea with using symbolic links was to have those folders viewable through web, but not editable through FileMan for those users that can access the root of my web. Well... FileMan seems too smart for me and just lists those symbolic links/folders as normal folders and opens them smooth as.

I can see the practical use for this, but really would like FileMan not to see - and at least not be able to open Symbolic Links. Is that doable?

Also - Bae installed FileMan on our server in the very beginning of December. Were any major changes done to the code before release? Maybe a good idea to upgrade before I start hacking.

You can set to hide files starting with '.' in 'Preferences' function.

In this case, I think that just change the owner of the files that should be easier.

We fixed some bugs and added options in the released version, so you should update it.

Cheers,

TheStone.

Hi,

I was unable to upgrade with the file you sent me but I'll work on that later. I got the new one installed on localhost and found the option to show or not show hidden files.

On the Multiuser version I'd say it's obvious that I as Admin want to set that in the permissions for each user, and not have them be able to select this for themselves in their preferences.
It has to be where it is now for the single user, but not for multi user.

For the last part of my question I found that symbolic link for CGI-BIN in itself was a bad idea and had a script alias setup instead which avoids the problem.

I'd still be interested in the possibility to exclude other files in addition to the . files. My example is that I have some files that I want users to be able to load through normal http /not through fileman, but which they should not see when using fileman.
