ups ¿full?
I have Links 2.0 working with 120 pages indexed aprox. Yesterday I validated 3 more webs and when I did "build news" I got:

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Unable to copy links backup. Reason: Disk quota exceeded
bla bla blaaa ....

¿Why can this happend? My server space is not full, I have more than 10mb yet. Anyone have an idea?

Do i have to use the "Staggered" because my database is too big?

Thanks for all.

Check the following....

1) That you have an empty file called links.db.bak in your data directory and the permission is 666.

2) Delete all the backup files in the backup directory (I betcha you are consuming more disk space than you think).

3) Make sure that the backup directory is set to 777.

Put a blank file called links.db.bak in your data directory and change the permissions to 666.

I have done so but I get the same problem in "Build All":

Backing up database . . .
Backing up links, category and email database (File::Copy) ...

CGI ERROR
==========================================
Error Message : Unable to copy links backup. Reason: Disk quota exceeded
bla bla blaa....

Should I use "Staggered-Staggered (Auto)" ??

Thanks for your messages.

The same thing has happened to me a few months ago. It is only indirectly related to the size of your flat files. You have simply exceeded your account's transfer limit. The best thing to do is to contact your hosting company and to upgrade your account.

I don´t understand this point about my hosting company because when I access by ftp (cuteftp) It open a login windows that inform me somethings about server; one of the things is that:

"You are using 3763KB of 20000KB allowed"

That´s because I don´t understand what you mean.
Can you explain more?

Thanks.

Account size and monthly transfer are two different things. In my case, my account was well below maximum size, but I exceeded the transfer limit (=> too much file transfer). That's why I had to upgrade.

Well, unfortunately I can help you no further. Try to contact your hosting company and inquire with them.

Good luck!
