rate.cgi and jump.cgi Not Working
Hi Everyone,

Okay this is my first time posting a question, so if I do something wrong, then I'm sorry.
I've been spending the last 3 days trying to get Links 2 Installed and I was finally able to get it up today. I've had several problems, but I went through past posts and I think I was able to fix most of them so far, except for two. Every time I try to use rate.cgi and jump.cgi I get a "500 Internal Server Error" saying "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@infraredproductions.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

I searched for post on my problem, but I couldn't find anything that helped me. If this question has already been addressed please just point me to where.

I'm not sure what else I should say, cause I'm very new to this. I probably should have tried to learn about Perl and CGI before attempting Links 2, but at least I'm learning a lot as I go.

My directory is here:
http://www.infraredproductions.com/roswellsearch/cgi-bin/

Though, the links directory is password protected, and I don't think I should give out the password so...

If anyone can help me, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks,
Brenna

Make sure that URL of User CGI directory in links.cfg is pointing to just your cgi-bin where those files are located and not the default /links directory.

Well, firstly, always try to get Links 2 working with the default directory structure Cool

Secondly, are you sure the files (rate.cgi and jump.cgi) are CHMODed to 755 and they have the correct location to Perl in them? That is almost definatly the problem!

Please post your solution for other Links users...stating that you "got it working" does nothing to assist future generation of Links users....
